Treviso also known as " Little Venice"

Treviso is also known as "Little Venice" because of the many canals in the old city.  These canals are a result of a couple of rivers and streams merging together.    On the right hand side of the  photo you can see a water wheel, there is an identical one on the other side of the building.  Maybe they  got flour to make their pasta from here.

Now the water wheels are for the tourists.

The river on the South side of the city has a small drop in elevation.  .

No problem for anyone that has gone river rafting but we have seen couples in rowboats on one section of the river.  They are romantically looking into each others eyes forgetting about the world around them.  To make sure their spirits are not dampened a rope is strung upstream of the drop

These buildings and bridges have seen it all from horse drawn cartridges to Ferraris.

At night the shutters go up and the buildings come to life.

The perimeter wall is now a great place to go for a walk, jog, ride a bike or just wander around. Very peaceful setting in a busy city.

The old gate "Porta San Tomaso" was built at the beginning of the 16th century.

This gate on the West side of the city has been closed off to all motor vehicles. Looks as if they uses the same designer for both gates.

In a city that is full of buildings that are hundreds of years old we also find new architecture. A new piazza is surrounded by government offices. The waterfall serves two purposes. First it looks great and second it helps to mask out the sound of the fans circulating air in the underground parking lot. The fans are located in the centre of the fountain pool.
